About Mike's Beach Cottages
Mike's Beach Cottages grew slowly, cottage by cottage, on a quiet stretch of Ushongo Beach south of Pangani town — far from the crowds and close to everything that matters.
There is no resort wall here. The cottages sit under coconut palms with the beach in front and the village behind, and the day is shaped by the tide rather than a timetable.
Mike Fritsi and Schola welcome you to this hidden paradise.
Almost everyone who works here grew up nearby. Our fish comes from the boats you can see from your terrace, our fruit from farms a few kilometres inland, and our guides are the people who know this reef best.
We keep things deliberately simple: comfortable beds, good food, cold drinks, clean water and the kind of quiet that is getting harder to find. Guests tell us that is exactly why they return.

Nature
Protected reef, nesting turtles and a palm forest we plant back into every year.
Hospitality
A small local team, most of whom have been here for years.
Local Culture
Swahili coast food, dhow builders, spice farms and the old town of Pangani.
Peace
No crowds, no music at midnight — just the sea and the palms.
Authentic Tanzania
The coast as it is: unhurried, generous and genuinely welcoming.
What our guests say
“The most peaceful place we found in Tanzania. Breakfast on the terrace with nothing but the sound of the sea.”
“Simple, spotless cottages and the freshest seafood we have eaten anywhere. The team could not have been kinder.”
“We came for three nights and stayed for ten. The Maziwe reef and the safari day were unforgettable.”
